Meeting Minutes by Paula Flaherty

Committee Reports

Beautification: A good year, all went as planned.

Block Watch: A comparison of statistics showed a slight rise in incidents as opposed to last year. The Negley corridor and Highland Ave. Have the highest concentration of incidents, but still lower than most of Zone 5 neighborhoods. Block Watches need to be re-activated.

Bryant Street: Pino's Pizza has been delayed due to zoning issues with neighbors. The marathon party, the Halloween party and Champagne & Chocolate were all great successes. Marcus Pharmacy location is being looked at as a possible location for a coffee shop.

Day Camp: Another good year with lots of satisfied campers.

Hospitality: Thanks to Paul Dougherty for the donation of great snacks

House Tours: There was no house tour this year, because not enough members offered houses to be toured. We'll try again next year.

Membership: There are now 273 families who have paid their dues for the coming year. These include 104 new members and the remainder are renewals. The mass mailing seems to have been successful in bringing in new members and we anticipate that many more of the current members will renew.

Newsletter: a good year, the increased membership just mentioned necessitates printing more copies. Thanks to Rick Burgett for all the layout and design effort.

Yard Sale: Another good sale with profit for HPCC.

Zoning Committee: The committee continued to focus on the new urban zoning code, as they have been doing for the last five years of its revision. The Code passed this summer, but will not go into effect for six months. Councilman Jim Ferlo will get a copy of the report for HPCC. Landlords and properties are being watched for violations on an ongoing basis.

Program Committee: Many informative and interesting programs were presented over the last year. The next program will feature a speaker from the Good Neighbors Volunteer Referral Services, a United Way service.

Reservoir of Jazz: This year was the fourth season for Reservoir of Jazz. Citiparks is pleased with the increased attendance. One of our best programs.

Community Development Corporation: The annual CDC Holiday House Tour will be held December 12, 1998. There will be a gift gathering picnic on Saturday September 19 to obtain items for the silent auction at the house tour. Houses are still needed.

Treasurer's Report: The balance of all funds is down slightly this year because one of the main sources of income, the house tour, had to be canceled. In response to comments from the floor, the treasurer will investigate moving some money into CDS or savings accounts.

New Business

Superplayground: Councilman Ferlo requested that a report be prepared covering activities regarding the Superplayground. The report should include financial information.

HPCC Website: The website should be up and running soon. Rick Burgett requested ideas for content to be put on it. He expects to include the Newsletter.

Annual Election of Officers and Directors: The candidates for 1998-1999 were nominated and elected. See accompanying article.

Meeting Adjourned at 8:20 P.M.
