Meeting Minutes by Ollie Rieley

The meeting was called to order by President Bob Staresinic at 7:35 P.M.

Reports:

House Tour: Dana Thomas reported that the House Tour was very successful. It was a sunny day and many people turned out for the tour. She reported a profit of about $800.

Newsletter: To support mailing the newsletter before Thanksgiving, all articles must be to the editor by Saturday, November 21.

Membership: Kelly Meade reminded all to send in their dues for 2004. We are currently about 200 short in renewals.

Community Plan: Dave Hance passed out copies of the final draft report and asked for comments. Comments should be provided by January 1. The Planning Team expects to ask final approval in the January 2004 HPCC meeting. The draft may be reviewed on line at www.highlandparkcommunity.com or copies are available at the Community Plan office in the Farm House or at Sandi's Deli.

Program:

Sal Wilcox presented a slide show summarizing the plans of Education Initiatives for an enrichment program at Fulton. The program will be an after school Nature Lab focusing on ecology. Ultimately, they expect to involve several nearby elementary schools, each focusing on a different subject. Together they will become a set of after school "magnet" programs. Students find their particular interest and go to the appropriate school for that area.

Announcements:

Bruce Robison announced Carols Around the Bonfire in the St. Andrew's Churchyard on Tuesday December 16 at 7:00 P.M. All are invited.

Bob Staresinic said he had received an invitation to an Open House at the MennoCorps home at 5615 Stanton Ave. on December 10 from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M..

Dave Hance said a strong letter supporting the restoration of the Heth's Run bridge on Butler Street was sent to PennDOT.

Sal Wilcox requested people to give Education Innovations their used printer cartridges for recycling. EI receives a small refund for them.

Brenda Cole requested donations of office supplies to the CDC office in the Farm House.

Bob Staresinic noted that a small donation to Fulton academy will be made by the Carnegie Museums in response to family memberships, if requested.

Everyone was reminded there is no December HPCC meeting and no January newsletter.

Meeting adjourned at 9:00 P.M.
